Re "National Emergency":
SEND MORE HOPS
Or: Hops for the hoplites
[gotta stop flogging the previous VDH adult beverage humor.
-no disrepect intended, of course, to the defenders of Wake Island("SEND MORE JAPS"). I caught a bit of an account of the battle and its aftermath on "The History Channel" recently. Some of the U.S. servicemen, and most or all of the civilian contractors who surrendered were executed by their captors. The Japanese commander was executed for those war crimes.
Someone should note that neither Stalin nor Truman would have given much *moral* weight to any polls that indicated most Germans favored the rapid withdrawal of occupation forces. The Germans of the postwar period had no moral basis for objecting to a period of occupation even though relatively few would have tried to make war on either the West or the Soviet bloc after what was for the Krauts an exhausting and decisive failure to win WWII. It is probable that most of the Iraqis favoring the immediate withdrawal of coalition forces from "their"(scare quotes appropriate for those Iraqis in need of scaring) country because they consider themselves part of an ongoing war against the West.-and who would continue to aid and abet that war after our withdrawal. Those Iraqis who favor withdrawal because they believe we have come to steal their oil, women or goats and who say to themselves or others that they otherwise have no quarrel with us are so deluded as to be not worthy of self-determination or, if advantageous to or necessary for us, existence. Those few who might favor our withdrawal so that Allawi's force could be "unleashed," on the terrorists-free of any restraints we have placed upon him- deserve some sympathy, but perhaps little else.
As argued in previous emails, it seems likely that a truly representative Iraqi goverment would make war against us -unless, of course, its people realize that such a war will result in their annihilation(as opposed to a mere regime change). We should realize that we would be *more* justified in waging a war of annihilation against a people ruled by their fairly elected representatives than we are in waging war against a dictator who might *not* represent the wishes of the people. Our hopelessly depraved elites would tend to take the opposite view.(This is not to say that the scum of France and Spain don't have the right not to *aid* us with troops or overflights.)
