Caveat preemptor?
Regarding the previous suggestion that Bush bring up the enormous deficits incured during WWII, the thought occurs that Lord Faux Pas' handlers have thought of that one and have advised him to retort that the individual income tax rate was raised during that war. Bush might then ask if Kerry proposes that the rate be raised to the 91% of that era. uh-oh, I'm being summoned for din-din-still don't have a good answer though-assuming there is one. (Bush should stress the income/capital losses of the rich which I believe have been substantial since the recession which seemed to begin during the last months of Clinton's administration.)I think Republicans *would* support a tax increase if this were not likely to cause another recession. The depression economy was very different than our own, and there was a lot of unused industrial capacity. And one suspects that most contractors did a helluva lot better than has Halibutron recently. I'd like to see more of our industrial might being used to pulverize Fallujah, and cripple Iran...
