A Derbyshire Award.....
no doubt, awaits the first blogger who states that their respect for Andrew Sullivan just went "poof."
Seriously, the *best* we could hope for from a Kerry presidency is a precipitous withdrawal from Iraq.
While Islamofascists(longhand for mainstream Muslims or MSMs)revel in the casualities inflicted upon us in Iraq and would celebrate our withdrawal, it is at least plausible that we have not suffered much from terrorist attacks on our soil, not so much because of improved interdiction of terrorists or diversion of terrorists to Iraq, but because the most capable and serious terrorist organizations, nations and individuals have already been deterred to some extent by regime change in Afghanistan and Iraq. And even though they might (correctly)believe that our failure in Iraq leaves us less able to act against other nation states, they might still worry about *reawakening* the ol' sleeping giant with another spectacular attack upon us.
I'm not sure if anyone else(perhaps VDH)has speculated that some of the main actors(and perhaps most of the billion-plus Muslims), while cheering the events of 9/11, also thought something like, "Wowie! Great!...but wait a minute...oops..maybe it *was* a bit over the top...warmed up the water a little too fast for the Frog O' Satan...better chill for awhile..." And while Islamofascist hotheads would be tempted to bitch-slap a sensitive Kerrified country, cooler heads might counsel caution for a time lest such acts "strengthen the hand of 'hard-liners' or 'Crusaders' in the West." Will the MSM(that is, the domestic fifth-column mainstream media)acknowledge this or that anything Bush did did anything but make us less safe or "inflame" Muslims and the rest of the world against? Duh.
Sigh, in the event of a Kerry victory, most of the "Stupid Party" will either support or not strongly oppose Kerry's charade of defending the West. Few Republicans will have the courage or integrity to simply say in response to any question about any aspect of a Kerry foreign policy, "No comment, other that Kerry and the overwhelming majority of elected Democrats have made it clear beyond any rebuttal that their war against Republicans is infinitely more important than any threat to the United States. Now get that (&$@^! mike outta' my face. I'm going home to my state(or district)to keep my attendence record of "zero" perfect. I won't be used by back-stabbing scum who will blame us for any of their failures and accuse us of 'obstructionism' no matter *what* we say or do."
They won't of course, because they(the Republicans)are, for the most part, stupid and gutless, and checkmated by their awareness, however, dim, that they, unlike their fifth-column blame America first genocidal totalitarian anti-white racist coddling Democratic enemies, they(and sigh, we)really have no where else to go.
The "loss"(again)of Afghanistan(thank you, Jimmy Carter)or of say, the loss of life of thousands of likely Democratic voters in, say, New York(thanks to Michael Moore for the perspective)would be a small price to pay for the ascension of someone like Ronnie in 2008....
I hope that military recruitment and re-enlistment falls to zero if that arrogant comsymp creep is elected.
Ayn Rand was as nutty as a fruitcake, but a little shrugging might be in order..
Oh, and one more thing: is Sullivan support for Kerry not exactly frontpagemag.com news?
