Dome's Day?
Or:Picture This(then again, maybe not)
The creeping volcanism on the Corner brought to mind an unsolicited Aug. 20, 2004 email to Mr. Derbyshire regarding his online vacation pics.(note: the title below refers to an objective of a Zulu army; not to the terrorist Howard Roark -in the event any Objectivists don't get my drift...):
"(T.R.)Roosevelt's Drift
Or: Lager Lite?
At first glance Cabin 156 looked like something out of Mao's "Great Leap Forward," but close inspection reveals that the "sort of stockade" ain't made of bamboo-Yep, it's definitely sort of a lager. And I suspect that the picture was cropped to conceal loopholes likely hacked and which could result in a warrant from the Park Service. Can't quite make out the mealy bags, though...
And one fervently hopes that Jonah G. doesn't follow up someday by turning his back to the camera for his vision of "Moon Over Half Dome."*
*Pointless loose association: Couldn't confirm via Google, but seem to remember The National Lampoon "quoting" an IRA spokesman soon after the murder of Lord Mountbatten- something like: "Next we're going after Ansel Adams..."
