Also, while not as obsessed with mimes as say, Andy "Digger" Shovelford, I did promise, in an old blog or email, to write something titled "Mime Obsession." One of the best lines from the movie "Hot Shots"(I) came as Lloyd Bridges' character moves a pointer across a map of Iraq during preflight proceedings on an aircraft carrier: "Now, if you have trouble hitting your objective, you secondary targets are here and here: an accordion factory and a mime school. ..." I don't have much agin' accordions, considering them to be, like banjos, "happy" instruments(I think that Steve Martin deserves credit for a schtick along those lines); ill suited for say, folk dirges about war, poverty, injustice and so on....well o.k. there are some counter examples: A Gary Larson cartoon showing harps passed out in heaven and accordions in hell...And the most arresting moment I ever had at a guns 'n stuff show came upon beholding an accordion accompanied by a very high asking price and some lengthy explanation of its great big, garish swastika.
