Tsunami of Similes?
Well, o,k., so they're metaphors. Professor Google might be hung-over this morning, given that neither my "tsunami of refugees"(Scrappleface.com-Wal-Mart Inauguration comments thread)nor Mark Krikorian's later use included in his return of "about 11" hits.(There was one hit for "tsunamis of refugees"-candaone.org-though the plural of "tsunami" is "tsunami.")The reference to Patrick Buchanan's old "tsunami of imports" may have been both lame and arcane but heeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrreeeeeeeeessss Tsunami:
Great, just great. Poorly paid employees can extend the greeting, "Welcome to Dubya's inauguration!"
-not trying to be a troll here; I voted for the party that hopes immigrants will assimilate, rather than the Democratic leadership which hopes they will assimilate only to governmental aid and Western levels of illegitimacy-and that they will remain, or become, hostile to Western values, traditions, and ethnic groups. While relatively free trade may benefit us overall, the massive legal and illegal influx of immigrants probably lowers wage rates for many workers here.
It's time not for "amnesty," but for a "rollback" of immigration.
Btw., even Walmarts occasionally close; leaving eyesores. As to whether further Asian industrialization will lead to many of our plants becoming "empty boxes," I haven't the foggiest, but doubt that we would be helped by future Democratic electoral victories which could result in a rollback of income tax rates to those of the 1950s.
Oops, sorry, I seem to have exceeded the number of Walmart references allowed for this checkout line....

What? Sorry, I swear I didn't see that item in the bottom of my cart. Maybe I didn't want to because it seemed to be in slightly bad taste during this time of tragedy. I'll just put the piece about a "tsunami of refugees" back on the shelf. Oh- you'll do it? Thank you, uh(reading name tag)..."Pat." Yeah, yeah, I know that you "used to be somebody." What? Your *real* jobs are on cable and writing a column? Sure, Pat-...You're welcome, Pat.
