Re Armenian pickles: Guess this one didn't go over with either Derbyshire or Krikorian yesterday-might as well just post directly on this lonely journal from now on....
(A little attempt at "Crossing Delancey" humor sent minutes ago to John Derbyshire)

My wife(and Professor Google) just confirmed that one of her favorite movies was the one in which Amy Irving's character fell in love with "Sam the Pickle Man."(1988) I don't suppose, though, that any producer has a "greenlight" to go ahead with "Crossing Nagorno-Karabakh". I seem to recall you and Andrew Stuttaford having a go at pickles in the past, and I suppose that there is no point in sending along again the Keats pickle parody from an anthology here. Wait! The pickle - I mean -penny just dropped! You guys must be *jealous* of my brilliance....yeah....that's it.................sigh....guess I'll make like Ali's foot-stomping foe of old, Chuck "The Bayonne Bleeder" Wepner and soak my head in some brine to toughen up....
