10,000 Readers Ask Derb, "Pronounced 'ay-la', as in the beautifl blond Cro-Magnon
who provided technical assistance to the 'Clan of the Cave Bear'?" The aid was, of course, given er, "pro boner", given that she bore a child* to the Neandertals**. -And like the church groups who temporarily "sponsor" "refugees", she soon dumped the kid on the clan's welfare system, and walked away, leaving the clan to its own (slightly upgraded) devices.

*Later renamed, "Daryyl"***. Ms. Hannah later turned down a sequel in which she would have returned to the clan, now led by a brow ridge enhanced Bob Newhart. -And bears two more children: "Larry" and "his other brother, 'Daryyl'."
**Probably would have been pronounced "Neaderthals" by the Clan, inasmuch, as written earlier, Theodore Geipel speculates that gothonic(German)-speakers have tended to lose the dental fricative "th" sound, except when influenced by neighboring Kelts. There are reasons to suspect, btw., that the Celts evolved from Cro-Magnon/Neandertal hybrids -whose tendency to hold grudges, remember slights forever etc., is derived from an ancient practice of pointing to one's head and saying, "It's on the cave wall."

***Or it might have been spelled, "Daryl" had the tribe not been preliterate.

Did I mention that Ms. Hannah and Arnold Schwarzenegger turned down voice-over work as "Daryl" and "Conan" respectively for a "Hannah-Barbarian" Cartoon series?
